Austin City Limits music festival boasts major star power

Austin, Texas, Oct 6 (efe-epa).- The presence of some of world's most emblematic popular recording artists will make the annual Austin City Limits music festival a can't-miss event in October.

Austin, Texas, Oct 6 (efe-epa).- The presence of some of world's most emblematic popular recording artists will make the annual Austin City Limits music festival a can't-miss event in October.

More than 130 bands will offer performances this weekend (Oct. 5-7) and next (Oct 12-14), with The Beatles legend Paul McCartney having kicked off the star-studded event on Friday.

The concerts are expected to draw roughly 500,000 music fans to Zilker Park in Texas's state capital, while the event's sponsor, Red Bull TV, is offering a live stream of the event on three different online channels.

While the 76-year-old McCartney is arguably the biggest name to ever perform at the ACL Fest, he is joined in Austin by a fellow member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, metal icon Metallica, as well as English rock band Arctic Monkeys, American hip-hop artist Travis Scott and American electronic music group Odesza.

The event will feature music across a wide range of genres, from hip-hop to country and metal to electronica.

Most of the recording artists will perform either this weekend or the next, with only the event's headline acts giving concerts on both weekends: McCartney, Metallica, Odesza, French electronic music duo Justice, Travis Scott and the Arctic Monkeys.

The ACL organizers, however, confirmed on Sept. 27 that one of the event's biggest stars, Childish Gambino (the stage name of singer, rapper and DJ Donald Glover), had suffered a foot injury and would not be able to perform this year in Austin.
