New York, Nov 13 (efe-epa).- The new streaming platform Disney+ managed to garner 10 million subscribers in the single day since its Nov. 12 launching in the United States, The Walt Disney Company reported on Wednesday.

Analysts had projected that Disney+ would sign up more than eight million subscribers by the end of 2019, helped by the free gift of a year of service by the Verizon company to unlimited online customers.

Although the figure of more than 10 million subscribers for Disney+ is above the expectations of investors, it bears recalling that the service offers a free seven-day trial period and a certain portion of the people who have registered still have not actually become paying subscribers, at the rate of $6.99 per month.

Disney shares had jumped about 7.5 percent on the New York Stock Exchange by less than an hour before the close of trading, although the share price had not moved much from Tuesday's close as of noon.

According to what Disney told Variety magazine, the company is not planning to release additional data on Disney+ subscribers apart from the company's regular quarterly results, where all its media activities will be analyzed. It is expected that Disney will make its next profit report in February.

The online platform, which will begin operations in Spain and other European nations on March 31, 2020, launched on Tuesday in the US with technical problems for its customers, many of whom were not able to access the service due to connection errors.

Specifically, the platform said that a connection error had occurred, which prevented customers from receiving the Disney+ signal, and asked customers to try to reconnect again.

Others, however, said that they could not even find the Disney+ application on Apple's virtual store and by 7:30 am there had already been 7,300 complaints regarding service problems, according to the online Downdetector service, where users can report such incidents.

A Disney+ spokesperson said that the company was quickly trying to resolve the problem, which was caused by the high demand for the new service.
